Sports Marketing

Sports all over the world are big money markets. Sports' marketing is one of the biggest booms in marketing. You see marketing in all areas of sports; decals covering racecars, billboards in the outfield of baseball parks, and ads on the sports cards. There are corporate sponsored ballparks, company blimps monitor the games and walls of baseball parks now sport messages invisible except to those watching the game on television.

Sports' marketing has many different facets. The sport itself can be advertising or can be making allowing companies to advertise through them. Events can be sponsored by companies with their ads a prominent part of the presentation. Who knows how many thousands of people can be reached throughout the world. Sports marketing target the sports fans that are more open to brand awareness while taking part in their favorite pastime. Sports figures that are spokespeople for products have proven their popularity can improve sales.

What are the ingredients of sports marketing? As already has been pointed out, large companies can promote brand awareness and promote buying when they are involved in large sporting events. There are athletes who are more than willing to use their prestige to promote a brand. These athletes can be direct linked to specific targets and products according to what sport they take part in. If I see a sports figure that I respect and trust, I'm more inclined to buy or use the product they are backing.

Think of the many sports venues we have; football, hockey, basketball, soccer, baseball, and the popularity of college ball programs. All of those can add up to a large profit margin if you're targeting that particular market. The give away prizes to first so many thousand fans at the pro ballparks are a big example of taking advantage of fan loyalty to imprint brand awareness in their minds. It's free, carries with it a pleasant memory, and has the product label as well as the team logo.
