Hospital MarketingOur local hospitals are now in the hospital marketing business. In my area, we are told by the advertisements that we have a choice. One hospital has a first-class birthing department; the other features a cancer care center and an open MRI. Many hospitals are advertising their specialty programs to draw more clients. Hospitals need to be competitive because we as patients do have a choice. Good care and testimonies from former patients could be used in brochures, media advertisements, and flyers in doctor's offices to increase public awareness of what the hospital has to offer. Hospital marketing can be a factor in fund-raising for new buildings and medical equipment. It's easier to raise money for something that has already been discussed in the media, on the website and by word of mouth. Websites are not up and running for hospitals and healthcare facilities. They show distinctive features and attractive extras to draw new customers. Hospitals use hospital marketing to the area doctors and healthcare providers. It's important to their survival to keep new clients coming in. Hospital marketing can increase previous customer loyalty, reminds them they had good care there when they were last admitted. Websites can also feature other items such as pharmaceutical advertising, medical device marketing, specialty healthcare, and often feature pictures of newborn babies that can be easily accessed by family and friends out of town. What a beautiful moment when a soldier serving out of the country can see the picture of their son and daughter on-line just a few hours after they're born. Hospital marketing can also include unique opportunities to increase name
recognition and improve community relationships. They can be instrumental
in emergency procedures and readiness for disasters of any type. Improvements
in facilities, additions to staff and buildings and new technology all
are marketable in bringing in and keeping existing clients. |
