College Marketing

College students are already decision makers and brand preferences are already partially entrenched in their minds. They will be tomorrow's moms and dads and what brands they are exposed to right now are the ones that will decide what their decisions will be in the future. They also are a stable and affluent group with millions of college students between the ages of 18 and 24. They have money to spend each month and some think it's close to $600 per month. They have jobs and cars and are living independently making their own decisions. They are no longer depending on parents to choose products and they have their own brand awareness.

The one most important item we know about college students is where they are found. College Marketing can be targeted direct to each particular college or university and to the specialties of education they provide.

What does College Marketing consist of? Targeted toward a specific group of people in a specific area a product can be advertised in many different ways. A company can sponsor on-campus or sports events. This exposure also can result in wider recognition because of the high exposure college sports now receive.

College Newspapers are also a good College Marketing tool. The students read them, therefore the advertisements can be directly targeted to the intended audience. What better way to make the students aware of your goods or services than reading about them in their own college newspaper.

In a specific area, College Marketing can also use posters, postcards and flyers that can be left or hung in local hot spots. Where do the students gather? That's where your flyers, posters and any other information should be posted.

Direct mail to all college students on campus can also send your message to the right demographic audience.

Where there are college students, there is a market. The trick is to get your goods and services noticed by them.
