American Marketing Association

The American Marketing Association (AMA), established in 1937, is an association dedicated to supporting the marketing profession. Its goals are: to educate marketers, provide marketers with effective business tools, and to promote ethical behavior within its membership and among all professional marketers. A professional membership in the America Marketing Association costs $195, with a yearly renewal fee of $165. As with most professional organization, there are reduced -cost memberships available for students and non-professionals.

Member Resources
Membership in the American Marketing Association offers the professional marketer many benefits and opportunities for growth. Locally, members can network with other professionals at their local AMA chapter meetings. Members also have an opportunity to network and learn from other marketers at the AMA's national meetings. Online, members have access to an extensive online library of articles and reports that cover all aspects of marketing. The AMA also maintains online discussion forums, job boards and member directories.

Free Resources
The American Marketing Association also offers limited services for non-members. Non-members are able to subscribe to all of the association's publications and are able to participate in the Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) certification program. The PCM program is open to all professional marketers with a college degree and the applicant is certified upon passing an examination administered at the local level. Re-certification is required every three years. The PCM program is designed to test and tangibly prove a professional marketer's knowledge of the industry. Non-members also have limited access to the association's online article and report archive.

The American Marketing Association produces the following journals and newsletters: Marketing News, Marketing Management, Marketing Research, Marketing Health Services, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Marketing Thought Leaders @ AMA, Marketing Matters, Market Academics @ AMA and Marketing Power. Marketing News, along with a publication of choice, is included as part of the association's membership package.
